These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Existential software and the existential.company website operated by Existential LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By using Existential, you agree to these Terms.
1. Self-Hosted Software
Existential is self-hosted software. You are responsible for your own installation, configuration, infrastructure, backups, and security. We have no access to your instance and no ability to recover lost data.
2. No Warranty
Existential is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind — express or implied — including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of security vulnerabilities.
3. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Existential LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or business, arising out of your use of or inability to use Existential — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
4. Open Source License
The Existential software is released under an open source license. Your use of the code is additionally governed by the terms of that license, available in the GitHub repository.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Existential or this website to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
- Distribute malware or engage in malicious activity
6. Third-Party Services
Existential may integrate with third-party services (e.g. Gmail, Google Calendar, cloud storage). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
7. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Existential after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
